Good News Corps Overseas volunteers return after spending one year in foreign countries for the people and for the country. They hold “Culture” (World Cultural Experience Exhibition) in May every year to introduce the lives and the customs of the countries in which they poured their love. They tell of how much they miss their friends made in the far away lands, how they have learned the foreign languages, what cultural shocks they experienced, and kinds of activities they have done for the one year. The students plan and organize the exhibition, make every booth, advertise the event, invite VIPs, and perform all of the performances. The ambassadors are usually amazed to discover the love for their countries in the Good News Corps volunteers.

The Homecoming Festival is an activity report by Good News Corps overseas volunteers who devoted a year to exchange their youth to gain the hearts of natives in their respective host countries. The volunteers vividly illustrate their overseas experiences through traditional performances, letter readings, personal experience reports, and True-Stories. Although the cultures and languages may be different across global society, the heartfelt stories and experiences are all the same in passion and love in their hearts. The volunteers, who took their first step of serving others through the Good News Corps volunteer program, invest their best efforts to convey the sincere love and passion for their host countries. Everyone feels moved by the stories of deep attachment and longing for their countries of service that linger in their hearts.

“The students’ smiles, captured in pictures, are very pure and beautiful.” Every spectator at the IYF photo exhibition agrees with this statement. In 2003, the history of IYF photo exhibition began with the beautiful display of World Camp pictures at various universities. Since then, the exhibition expanded to include pictures of Global Camps and Good News Corps volunteer activities that convey the sincerity and frankness of its students. Through photo exhibitions held at various corners of the world, IYF works to publicize the clean and radiant spirit of IYF.

As beautiful music works to refine one’s heart, IYF provides extensive opportunities for students to appreciate good music through various events like World Camps and Global Camps. Annually, the IYF invites the world’s best musicians to the World Camp in Korea to present their excellent compositions. The Gracias Choir and world-renowned musicians sponsor these artist concerts to show the musical presentations of Soprano Veronica Dzhioeva, Pianists Izabella Krasnova and Igor Lebedyev, Cellist Dmitry Eremin, Oboist Victor Hussu, and Violinist Hugo Ticciati. Hosted in major cities in Korea including Seoul, Daejeon, and Busan, these concerts offer superlative musical sensations to the public.

As it means “thanks” in Spanish, the Gracias Choir sings to praise the Lord for the love received from God. Their music has power to change sorrow to joy and provides heartfelt sensations to all its listeners. Founded in 2000, the Choir has been markedly advancing through new challenges and improvements ever since. Needless to include ten major cities in Korea, they have been actively performing around the world, including Australia, Hawaii, South America, and Africa, where they met enthusiastic responses. Their cooperative performances with top Russian musicians at Seoul City Hall Plaza (2005) and Seoul Arts Center (2006) marked an incredible challenge in Korean musical society. Their overseas presentations at Sydney Town Hall in Australia (2005), Hawaii Convention Center (2006), and Pattaya Villy High Beach in Thailand (2007) served to enhance their overall musical talent. In particular, their presentation at Madison Square Garden in New York (2008) and the Christmas Cantata at Sydney Opera House (2008) provided the groundwork of establishing Gracias Choir as a global choir by publicizing their music to the world.

Tracing its history to Chinese Cultural Night in 2004, IYF began a cultural exchange for Chinese residents in Korea. In 2006, the Chinese Residents Organization and IYF mutually sponsored the Chinese Cultural Festival at the Olympic Gymnastic Stadium in Seoul, which augmented the significance of Korean-Chinese exchange. In 2007, the Chinese Cultural Festival in Korea was hosted to congratulate the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, where live news from CCTV4 (Chinese local satellite broadcasting station) provided intelligence on preliminary arrangements for the Olympics and congratulatory messages from Olympic medalists. The participants could not hide their joy when hearing their national news on the Olympics. It annually offers various thematic events including Chinese Singing Contest, Korean-Chinese musical performances, and Gracias Choir’s Christmas Cantata, which numerous Chinese workers, students, and civil servants welcome with a heartwarming reception as they advance communal relationship between Korea and China.
